Goa is known to people around the world as India’s happiest tourist destination. There’s so much to do for tourists in Goa that one is sure to have a good holiday in the land of palm trees and sun.
Come night time, though, people of all ages land up at just one place — the beach. Many of the best-known spots are open until 5 am, with the crowds refusing to leave even then. If you’re interested in a great night out, here are some beaches in Goa that are known for their nightlife.
Ashvem Beach is one of the lesser-known beaches in Goa, that being said, do not think that Ashvem is just a quiet beach town. While the day is relaxed, come night and the beach shacks light up with music, and parties being hosted. To get to a beach party in Ashvem, you’ll have to get on the list, you’ll find flyers on walls around town with information on the latest parties, and how you can register.
If you do not love to party, there are chic beach shack bars to sit down and grab a few drinks. The beach is very popular with foreigners so expect crowds only during the tourist season.
The walk to the beach from the Morjim-Mandrem road is a long one. The Marbela Beach Resort Lounge is a great place to chill out in the evenings with a couple of drinks.
You will find a good deal of locals and tourists enjoying a night out at the Arambol beach that lies in the North of Goa. The place is flooded with bars and cafes, giving you endless options for eating and drinking.
There are a couple of nightclubs and a few beach parties in Arambol, in case you are keen on partying the night away. On Saturday, they have a night market in Arambol where you’ll get few locally made items.
3. Anjuna Beach
One of the more commercial beaches in Goa, Anjuna is a great place to enjoy Goa’s nightlife. There are trendy bars on the road that leads to the beach and some chic beach shacks serving good food and drinks along the seashore (Curlies and Shiva Valley, for example). For a great party experience, though, visit the Nyex Beach Club in Anjuna. Probably the best beach in Goa for nightlife.
Yet another popular beach for nightlife in Goa, Vagator has a few iconic bars and nightclubs on its beach. Sip on a variety of alcoholic beverages and listen to live music at Antares or enjoy drinks by the sea at Al Cove Bar. After soaking in the stunning sea view, or the sunset, head out to the 9 Bar nightclub and party till about 5 am.
5. Morjim Beach
For most of the 2000s, Morjim was a low-key beach. However, that’s not the case anymore. Today, the beach attracts many visitors mainly due to the Olive Ridley turtles found at the beach. When it comes to nightlife, it may not be as popular as some of the other beaches in Goa, but Morjim does offer a good party experience.
There are quite a few beach shacks and bars around Morjim Beach for one to enjoy a great nightlife experience.
Baga is probably the best place to witness the nightlife in Goa because of the many options it offers.
At night, there are many beach shacks that play good music, offer great food and drink. On the Baga Calangute Road lie some of the best nightclubs. Café Mambos, Titos and the Cape Town Café are three popular nightclubs around Baga Beach. If you are looking to enjoy karaoke, head to the St. Anthony’s Beach Shack on a Tuesday.
7. Calangute Beach
Located close to the Baga beach, Calangute is popular for its nightlife experience. If you are visiting Goa for the first time, a visit to this beach post 8 pm is what you should do to experience Goa’s booming nightlife at its best.
Souza Lobos offers delicious portions of Goan food, from vindaloo to Goa sausage fry, while there are several clubs down the road that party till late at night.
Of all the beaches in North Goa, Candolim is the most crowded at night (even though it’s relatively secluded at night. Candolim is always buzzing with people and activity at night, because of the number of clubs on its stretch. This includes LPK (Love Passion Karma) and Calamari.
There are also a number of great restaurants, such as the Burmese restaurant Bomra’s, rated one of the best restaurants in India.
Sinquerim Beach is a popular nightlife spot in Goa and the SinQ Nightclub is one of the most popular clubs in the area. SinQ is known for its spacious interiors and poolside area that’s great for parties. Go here on a Friday if you love Bollywood music. Cohiba is also just down the road.
If you are heading to Goa and are thinking about partying at beaches that are not so crowded, leave out Baga, Vagator, and Candolim. Anjuna beach is an okay-ish place to visit as it has many bars, cafes, and nightclubs, so you’ll have a choice, it is also close to Shiolim, Vagator, and Baga; giving you the opportunity to party there if need be. There’s also the flea market which is a great place to visit on a Wednesday; there’s shopping and good music to go.
While partying in Goa, it is best advised not to drive, the police have gotten stricter and the penalties for drunken driving are harsh. Hire a taxi, or ask someone to take you there. You should also be careful of touts, thieves, and drug addicts, at some nightclubs, there could be such souls loitering around.
