Skin 101- Include Cleansing Oil in your Skincare Routine – Here’s Why

A lot of brands in the Indian market are offering cleansing oils. Now who would have thought, that one da you would be using oil to cleanse your face. You’re likely curious to wonder why on earth would anyone want to slather oil on their face to clean it. But hold on! You would be surprised to hear the various benefits of using oil to cleanse your face.

Instead of using soaps and face washes that completely strip your skin of your natural oils, oil cleansing is a gentle and an more effective method of cleansing your skin. Cleansing your skin with an oil is an ancient Korean beauty ritual that many credit for clear glowing skin. Oil cleansing is a method that balances oil production, heals acne and melts your makeup right off while nourishing and hydrating your skin leaving your skin feeling silky smooth.

The main benefits of cleansing oils are:

– Deep cleanses impurities and dead skin cells.

– Leaves skin feeling soft, smooth and hydrated.

– Gently cleanses face without drying and irritation.

– Natural make-up remover.

When selecting an oil cleanse, be sure to read the label carefully and selecting a cleansing oil that’s designed for your skin type. The best cleansing oils are non-fragrant plant oils and residue free. If you have oily skin or are acne-prone, it’s a good idea to look for cleansers that contain grapeseed, tea tree, tamanu and coconut oils which are lighter and more likely to work well with oily or acne-prone skin.

There’s one exception: Cleansing oils that are composed of a single oil or oil blend without surfactants or emulsifiers are not recommended for combination to oily skin, as they only add to the skin’s oiliness issues. So if you have oily skin, you might want to skin to water based cleansers and toners.

If you have dry skin, look for products with avocado, jojoba, or sunflower oil. For those with normal to sensitive skin, look for cleansers with calming oils, such as rosemary and camellia seed oil. It’s also a good idea to avoid cleansers with fragrances if you have sensitive skin.
